TAINAN SEA GATE
In Tainan, there is a house invaded by nature, the trees have conquered it and it has become the symbol of the city. Nature always regains its space.
Tainan city, the tree house, seduces us because it speaks to us in an intimate way, also as a human group, we all feel affected by its message. This message, today more than ever, becomes urgent, a call for help but also for hope in ecological terms. We like the tree house so much because deeply it gives us hope and confirms our certainty: NATURE ALWAYS RECOVERS ITS SPACE.
Trees, an ecological symbol of great power, with their branches, roots, with their whole being, colonize an abandoned house. It is a symbol of great beauty, the result moves us and makes us feel and think. You there feel affected. The house is the symbol of man, his armor his refuge and his work. The house is the testimony of the presence of the human being.
When I considered creating out a sculpture project for Tainan, I could not ignore this powerful reference, both visual and conceptual. I wanted to bring to my field, to my way, make this symbol my own with the purpose of expressing and signifying a given.
TAINANAN SEA GATE expresses Tainan’s relationship with the sea and its vocation for the future with the presence of a girl drawn on a coral reef.
